I did TONS of research on the 335 when 8 months before it even went on sale... I knew more about it than anyone at the dealer. I was the first to order one from my dealership, and ordered it using inside info invoice pricing, and negotiated through 2 different dealers to get the best price.

Ahhh, a bunch of know how. Ask a bunch of questions, know everything about the car but can't even change their own oil.

I have to chime in here,...seems a bit of an inflamed situation here.

I dont think Rixster is wrong for wanting to know how things work and the details of what he is buying. I would say many of us (myself included) research what we are buying prior to a "major" purchase and try to get the most bang for the buck. Nothing wrong with that!!

I ALSO dont think Shiv is wrong for NOT mentioning the manufacturer of the components of the Procedes internals. Did BMW mention to us that Seimens made the HPFP prior to our purchase? We were buying a BMW and all the components and software that makes it a BMW and good performance car. Nothing wrong with that either. This is also no different than Alienware using an Intel processor or MB to make a kickass computer or even clock it higher safely compared to an ACER computer using an Intel MB that is a mediocre performer.

We have a right to become educated about a product prior to purchase but the manufacturer also has the right to mention what he feels are salient points about a product to sell. He does not have to mention where every bolt and resistor comes from.

NOW,..lets this thread end. It's really not productive beyond the little knowledge gleaned above (if it even matters to you).

End of my rant...

Shiv takes electronic parts manufactured by someone else and makes them work in a BMW. The result is that the BMW performs much better with Shiv's product(s).

Shiv originally called his product Xede, and apparently did not take steps to make sure no one would copy his product. AA did just that. Shiv improved his Xede, called it the Procede, and took steps to ensure no one could copy it.

Are you surprised that he is not giving away his trade secrets? Why would he want to give you ALL the details? That just makes it easier for others to copy him...AGAIN. For those inquiring minds who need to know everything, what are you writing, a book? Leave that chapter out!

As for the article talking about what kind of hardware was on the car, so what? There have been other articles talking about what kind of software a particlar car is running, and no one cries about them not mentioning the hardware...

Do I need to be sure? This is an internet forum. I know when Shiv was first selling his product, it was called the Xede. Then the Procede comes out. then AA starts selling something called the Xede...

I can draw a reasonable inference just like anyone else...

You don't have to draw a resonable inference when the correct answer can be found elsewhere in this forum.

did you read this thread... Shiv specifically said that the PROcede is just a haltech interceptor, which was around before PROcede, he didnt make it, he just made it work with the 335, and custom programmed all the features, because it was more flexible than the XEDE platform, and when shiv gave up the XEDE, the company that makes it, chiptorque, offered it relabed to RDSport and AA... and shiv sells the haltech unit customized for the 335, under the name PROcede.

its all cool though, just part of business...

You said Shiv improved the Xede and called it the PROcede.

I asked you if you were sure and you said you drew a reasonable inference.

I suggested you do a search and you said you've read the other threads.

RiXst3r told you that Xede is made by ChipTorque and PROcede hardware is manufactured by Haltech.

You responded with a non sequitur and here we are.

I might get a contract to purchase these units and put my own software on it... Does it matter more to you who made the unit, or who designed the firmware and software??.... Nuff said.

I assume the masters is in a field other than the Ph.D (or is it Th.D). BTW, how much did you pay for the diplomas?
