I just got back from a test drive in after my Quaife limited slip diff install today……..



I ordered the Quaife from Birds in the U.K. Kevin Bird was extremely helpful and spent a huge amount of time replying to my numerous emails. I can highly recommend his business.

The install was done today by ALS Performance Tuning at Rydalmere. They specialise in BMWs and Andrew there is also a member of the BMW Club - and has the fastest track car in the club. I felt very comfortable with Andrew’s knowledge and professionalism.

…………Now to the drive.

The Quaife LSD transforms the 335i. I had no idea just how much power was lost through the open diff before installing it. What I have noticed so far:

• You can plant your foot from a standstill and both tyres will break traction causing a slight fishtail. So much fun.
• Around a bend it is so easy to induce oversteer with a little throttle. Very controllable and much much quicker.
• When both tyres bite you can feel the car propel itself forward like a 3rd turbo has been installed.
• It has made driving the 335i even more addictive. I want to head back out as I type this.

I am going to the track this Friday and I will post a review on my return. I can’t wait for PROcede V2.0 to arrive now.

(I spoke to Andrew about a possible solution to the welded crown on the newer cars and he thinks he can work around it.)

Glad to hear it went well, hopefully all will hold up during the track work. You will have to take me for a 'drift' around c'hill next week

When you get a chance can you shoot me a PM with Andrew's details, I think I need to have Andrew and Kevin have a little talk or at least have Andrew crack mine open to see if I do have the welded crown as I was boarder line in terms of production date (unfortunatly the VIN does not give that level of detail).

Still hoping that someone (without hurting themselves) manages to write off their 335i 2006 sedan from the front so if I do have the welded crown I can scavage a diff.

I have my fingers crossed it should be ok on the track. I feels bullet-proof to drive. I’ll practise my drifting skills for you.

It's like an expensive go-kart now.
