2013 335is : Mod/Tune Help
OK, I realize that there is a search function and I've done a good bit of work with it, but I still feel the need to ask for some help. It seems that the 335is is a slightly different animal with regards to mods than a regular 335. I'm currently in a 2011 335 sedan with nothing but a Procede, but I've got a 335is that I will be taking delivery of in July. I've had a LOT of genuinely fast cars, and realize that a mildly modified BMW is not going to be a land missile, but I'm looking for some guidance in my given situation.
I've read a good bit about each tune (JB, Procede, Cobb) but I'm still on the fence, so I'll tell you what I'm looking for. I've got an E85 station less than a block from the house, so I would like to take advantage of that. I'm looking for the tuning solution that will provide the most bang for my buck, with the least headaches, on an E85 blend. As much as I would like to think I'll take the time out of my day to install meth or downpipes, I realize that I will probably never get around to it. I just want a quick daily driver that I can haul the baby in. Input is MUCH appreciated! Someone please point me in the right direction! |

Tomorrow I will be doing some logs and virtual dynos to compare JB4 map 5 against the Cobb e30 OTS map (both run on the same road and E30 mix I have in my tank now) I am FBO but that could give some idea as to what route you want to go. |

Cobb for simplicity of install, or uninstall... I am running Cobb stage 1 plus with supporting mods on my IS, and its a beast.. Not much difference between Cobb 1 sport and stock IS, but moving to aggressive maps is very much noticeable. Had taken it to dealer twice, uninstalled Cobb prior to visits, no issues with intake or intercooler..

I think that jb4 is very good with e85 because you can set it to map 5 and have it auto tune for you. If you don't want to mess with the harness I think getting a Cobb with a protune for a e85 mix is a great choice. If you don't have immediate access to e85 you can easily just fill up with 91 or 93 and change the map on either jb4 or Cobb

Get the Cobb Access Port. Its more convenient and you don't have to worry about meddling with your DME wires. When taking your car in to the dealer for "warranty" issues, its simply and easily to flash back to stock without getting your hands dirty under the hood
More power can always be added progressively with supported mods if desired, and if you decide you don't want the Cobb Access Port anymore you will find it holds its resale value |
