I bought a 2011 335 d about 2 months ago and its been in the shop for about 3 weeks now for one thing failing after another. First it was the nox sensor, then throttle valve and now the dpf failed. I'm really hoping this was the last time them working on it. The car had come completely alive now and is incredibly fast. I guess that will happen when you get rid of a clogged dpf pipe. The failure occurred at 30k miles. If this happens again I'm getting a delete.. not gonna shell out $2.4k for a part that can fail again.

Same exact series of issues happened to me at 20k last summer/fall. Knock on wood, it has been fine since then. Get a JBD and drive that sucker hard!

How do you know exactly when it is beginning to clog? Ive had no faults but sometimes notice its a bit slower and i usually have a little power drop at around 3k RPM ... i do have a JBD so i'd imagine that does not help the clogging situation at all but I cant live without it..

Prior to DPF replacement and SES light there was a noticeable loss of power.
Then there was the SES informing me that the turbocharger is underboost.
The tech at BMW can actually perform a backpressure test. He performed the test on the car stock and it failed. Then he performed a manual regen cycle and it still failed. He tested the backpressure after the dpf was replaced and it passed. I dont know exactly what this test is, but if you found out what it was and performed it you'd find out if you're out of spec or not.

Funny... last summer I was getting SES lights for underboost... but then it stopped after it wasnt so hot out and it never came back .. but maybe I should have my tech test that

With the Bavarian Techic tool you should be able to see DPF pressure information.
