Tuning the N52B25

Hey people,

After owning several E36's I've purchased a E90 325i.

I went for the 325i N52 218BHP, in comparison to my E36 328i Sport, its a lot different in the way the engine delivers its power.

Its very flat untill it reaches about 5K RPM. I am looking to get a realistic 250BHP out of it.

Im totally new to these engines, does anyone have some literature they can point my way?

Remap?
Induction?

Where to start

Oh PS, here it is:

As said above, there is no way you will get this up to 250 bhp I'm afraid.

Thanks for the replys.

N53? I was on the understanding it was an N52.

You say changing the manifold might be an option, is there something that someone has done already in regards to this?

My 328i sport had the M50 inlet manifold etc so I didnt know if there was something similiar done to these models.

I was looking at a Gruppe M or Simota intake, and a remap from B&M Chip tune, would getting 230BHP from these mods be too optimistic?

Dave.

bump. interested in the opinions here. I understood this engine had about 218 bhp from the factory in europe. Add headers for about 18bhp and a tune for about another 18bhp, it seems as though you could get to the 250bhp mark or close to it. I have the same engine but it is the initial version which puts out way less power than the current north american model or the euro model.

I personally added headers to the same engine and saw 12whp gain and about 15wtq gain.

TBH if you want more power the cheapest way is to just look out for a 330i.

From the pictures, it looks like your car is an LCI.

If it is, it will have the 3.0L N53 unit.

In which case you can have this done: http://mosselmanturbo.co.uk/remappin...25i-e90-218hp/

Which basically makes it a 330i (So 272Bhp)

May be cheaper route than to sell your 25i and then re-buy a 30i

It is an LCI. OP seems to think it is an N52 though, which would make it a 2.5L? I thought most 08 onwards 325i's were N53 (a much better engine)
