Blackstone Oil Analysis - GC 0W-30 @ 11k miles OCI

Just wanted to share my uoa for German Castrol 0W-30.

Car is 2007 335 with 76000 miles. The first analysis (right most column) was my first uoa on this car with BMW/Castrol 5W-30. The rest are with GC.

Not sure about the oem oil but I think this lends some validity to the long oil change intervals recommended by BMW. I will provide an update after my next oil change ~13000 miles from now.

It would be interesting if you had opted for the TAN or TBN analysis as well, since that number would be steadily worsening the longer your OCI.

Thanks for posting.

Great example of why UOA on engines with less than 50k miles is of limited value. Nice report.

I also wonder if major changes have been made to N54 software since it was first released. When turbo DI engines first started coming into play (like the N54) the UOAs were TERRIBLE, showing tons of fuel dilution after only 1000miles. Everyone feared for the longevity of engines running factory OCIs with dilution that severe. Looks like things got better...
