i use it all the time, in collaboration with my v1 ;D
I suggest you to give it a try at least for couple days
Funny thing you bring that up, I have been using WAZE on my iPhone previously but for some reason on the iPhone 5 I have been getting lots of issues with that app. It won't load, it can't locate me (Im standing still, outside of my car with clear view of the sky), when i do get directions it's all sorts of fcuked up. What iPhone are you using?

The v1 picks up laser signals. Just play around with a few of the top radars. Don't get cheap crap you will regret it.

Mine paid itself. Not saying did get a ticket yet, but just today, I was trying to go around a guy, and I see the Escort lit up. It's good to have one, but be also cognizant of your surroundings.

The V1 was making me nuts with false alarms around the city, although I never tried shutting off the X band. I now use a Bel GX65, which is similar to the Escort 9500, that works great and has much less false signals.

I'm using the V1 programmed with personnel settings hardwired in My car and the passport 8500 x50 hardwired in the wifes Acura.. Both are great detectors.

That's not why you got caught. It would find a separate signal and realize it was something legit. It does not ignore radar in areas that it remembers it ignores the same signal strength in the same location after 3 times passing it. He must've gotten you with laser and didn't hit the detector so you never saw it coming.

I wondered the same thing so I read up on it before purchasing one and it has already paid for itself twice.

V1 FTW, don't get anything else. Laser, you're screwed. You can get a jammer

+1 This is indeed the case. It will block gps based on previous freq detected, rather than EVERYTHING in that location.

An example of a good setup:
V1 Radar detector (turn off X)
V1 Savvy
Laser Interceptor Quad (HP if funds allow)
Participate in Waze
Some basic tips:
  • Don't speed without another car within a half mile in front and behind you.
  • Don't speed at night in poorly lit areas.
  • Watch the sky for small planes (VASCAR) if your state allows this type of enforcement.
  • Watch for marked and unmarked police vehicles both in front and especially behind you. Many states allow the police to pace your car and issue a ticket without them ever having to turn on radar/laser. Some states even allow the police to pace at any distance (which is really BS).

My Redline will alert at every hotel/supermarket/etc... that has a radar auto door. The X band can also be triggered by dead spots in cell service- if your cell is too close, your phone will "boost" its search signal and it causes my redline to go off (my detector is mounted on the bottom of my phone car mount).

For that reason, I turn the X band off.

That said, the Redline has great reception, but you will get falses quite often.

i run 9500ix in conjunction to a laser interceptor quad setup.
Radar detectors are useless against lidar/laser guns

Dont cheap out on a radar, the extra money you spend on one will pay for itself over and over. In regards to laser my understanding is that since it is instant the cops knows you where speeding. What does come in handy is when the car next to you was also speeding and didnt slow down cause they dont have a radar screaming "laser". That happened to me and I watched the CHP pull over the beetle instead of me...

haha, It would be worthwhile for you to find out what type of radar they run in your area, i.e. X, K, Ka. For me, I am 99.99 percent sure X band is not used in my area so I turn it off. I thought K band was dead in my area as well but it just resurfaced in the city cops patrol cars. Must have found some cheap old guns on ebay.
