It's because whatever cleaner you use isn't ph neutral so leaves an acidic/alkaline residue on the trim..
Change your shampoo and make sure you rinse and dry the trim properly.. Polishing the shadow line metal is fine as it's anodized however, don't use an abrasive on the plastic side trims, it will put fine scratches in it. Which look fine, until the sun shines on it.. |

I had both of my larger shadowline trims replaced under warranty as they started to peel at the very edge - bonus as they are over £300 each!!!
This made the smaller lower trim look slightly oxidised / discoloured. I used some 3M fast cut rubbing compound by hand to remove any medium scratches , followed by Meguiars #9 mirror glaze. They all look perfect and mint now - can't tell which ones where the new ones and which are old now |
