Rb turbo & Vargas stage 2 turbo seals
We all know the seals in the stock turbos are a problem. Im considering getting one of the two once i see what the vargas stage 2's can do. My questions is does anyone know if tony or rob does anything to the seals as far as upgrade them to prevent them from leaking so easily, or leave em stock.

They are not seals, they are piston rings. The piston rings themselves are not the problem. The amount of heat and back pressure they see as things are turned up is the issue. A stock turbo can last 50K+ miles due to low stress on them. You start turning things up and this expectation can go down accordingly. Due to the sensors we have on our stage 2 test car we are seeing this first hand, just how stressful it can get. With this said, both us and RB use what is called a step gap piston ring to help keep things sealed even under the more extreme conditions.
