alot of helpful people on here hopefully someone can give me some advice please
i was hoping you could give me a little advice, i have already ordered my car and its on the ship currently. i will take delivery in probably 10 days. i havn't worked out any numbers with my CA yet. 3 months ago when i ordered it he said he couldnt go lower than m.s.r.p. now 3 months later i find that to be rediculous with all the deals i read about people gettig on here, my question to you is, is it too late to haggle with him? and what would be a fair price to ask for above invoice or below m.s.r.p.? what should i do? any input would be very helpful thank you in advance. im scared if i try to haggle with him he wont budge because he knows he could sell my car in 2 days with the options/ color combo i have chosen. please help me out guys.

Yep, you can get out of the deal all the way until you take delivery. If you want the car sooner, you'll have to pay. If you cancel the order and try to negotiate a lower deal, there's a very real chance you'll have to wait longer. How much do you think you can knock off the price, and is it worth the wait?

If you agreed on a price earlier, it was okay with you at one time. You should not feel bad just because someone else paid less. You yourself said, that he could sell your car in 2 days. If you don't want to go through with the deal, you must realize that you are completely at the mercy of the dealer. They are under no obligation to agree to a new lower price.

Dude, you might as well start unbunkling your jeans and start bending over at this point.
Your CA/dealersip are doing one of these about now....

Hey Derek, I was thinking the same thing. I jumped the gun b/c I couldn't find any 07s that I wanted and I said "F it" and ordered an 08 at msrp. After reading how a lot of people on here got discounts, I started to wonder the same thing as you. Yes you could say forget it and wait for another one or hope that a dealer around your area comes out with a combo you like on their lots, but according to my CA you'll have to pay for the destination fee which is about 700 or so dollars. And then when you think about it, if you are either financing or leasing, the monthly payment difference won't be a big difference whether your cap cost was the msrp price, or if you got 500 off, or even a thousand. So that's how I thought of it, and it helps me sleep better at night. haha. |

How would you feel walking into pick up your car and your SA telling you the price is now $2000 over MSRP? If you are not happy with the price you negotiated when you placed the order, cancel it and try and find a better deal and reorder. If you can live with the price be nice and beg for 1k off when you go to pick it up, but be prepared to pay the price you agreed to when placing the order.

I'm assuming it's a coupe.
What dealer did you order the coupe from? If you can get lower quotes via email or fax from other dealers, you may be able negotiate a better price by showing your CA the price other dealerships offered you. I did that on my order, however, my order was only three weeks old and was still in the scheduled for production status.

we never actually agreed on a price because when i placed my order in july they didnt even have the pricing for the 08's all that was said at that time was that he wouldnt go below msrp whatever that would be when pricing came out. so is it fair to negotiate price? im sorry for being so confusing i've never leased a car before.

Or just pay MSRP and go enjoy your new car. I sweated this stuff a lot when I bought my current car and was convinced by the end of the transaction that I didn't get nearly as good a deal as I could have, but I forgot all about it 5 minutes after I picked my car up, put the top down and drove off toward PCH. And I've never worried about it since.
