Is this a good deal? '08 335i Coupe

$750 off MSRP custom built 2008 335i Coupe. They can have it custom ordered any way I want it and here by the end of the month if I pull the trigger in the next week. I figured if I could push them to $1k off, it would at least be a decent deal. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I just custom ordered a 2008 335i Coupe a couple weeks ago, and I had to go to three dealers before I was satisfied with the price I got. I was able to negotiate $2680 off the MSRP ($49795 down to $47115). Another dealer came close to that, but the third wouldn't budge at all, and would only throw in free wheel locks or some other nonsense. It's definitely hit or miss between different dealers. I'm a pretty fierce negotiator though, so your mileage may vary .

Not a bad deal.

My dealer is giving me MSRP. Won't budge. Sent faxes to the other dealers. They're in cahoots - none are giving below MSRP.

Seems like yours is alright. Cali buyers are finding 1400-1500 over invoice because they have 6-8 volume dealers in an hour radius.

My deal sucks because we agreed on MSRP, and my parents went and bought another car from the guy and gave him a hefty profit on that one too!

Don't fall for the "you can get the car by the end of the mth if you pull the trigger now' line. Unless they have an unsold car that's already on a ship, at the VPC or dealer trade matching your specs, getting a custom ordered car in under 30-days is nearly impossible.

Here's why it's nearly impossible. Production is about 4-5 days then it waits for trucks/trains heading to the port on the North Sea. Then it has to wait for a ship with space, trip across the Atlantic average about 14-days with intermediate stops. Then it has to be processed at the VPC then trucked to the dealer and it's now already the 3rd in Germany.

This was told to me personally by the President and General Manager of the dealership. He's a friend of a friend. So I wouldn't think he would BS me. I would hold him to it if it did not show up, I'd make him take more off MSRP or something. We have 4 main BMW dealerships within the Dallas area but they are only offering $500-$1000 of in-stock 07's and none of them are close to the options. Thanks for the insight though. I've experienced enough BS to last me a lifetime in the last couple of months from other dealers though, thats for sure.

Anyone else getting off MSRP? Thanks for the input so far. Keep it coming! I want to have some ammo (or at least some mental support that other people are getting good deals) to keep me hounding them to get the MSRP down.

1400 Above invoice here (which is like about 2100 off MSRP). But as stated before, I live in california and I emailed 9 different dealers. 3 of them came close to the deal i came close to. Few dealers would only do a maximum of 500-1k off MSRP and some called me crazy.

Came close to ordering one just a few days ago but the dealer refused to budge even a dollar! They looked at me like I was crazy when I said they are nuts for not even negotiating at all on a $45,000+ car. I can only hope not all stealerships are like the one that I went to.

orientblue3,

Based on what I have read in the forums and personal research. It is going to be difficult to get anywhere close to invoice pricing from the dealers in Houston, Austin and Dallas, especially on a 2008 coupe. You might get a little more off MSRP on a 08 sedan. I have heard folks mentioned good things about the BMW dealer in Temple, TX, you might want to check them out.

Also, what I have seen so far from here and other forums, the folks in CA usually get the best price. I have seen a few guys in Denver and Chicago who said they got close to invoice price. But here's the thing, there's a guy who said he got a coupe for invoice from a dealer in the Chicago region, when I asked him for a contact info, he gave me some excuses and did not give it to me.

I end up buying mine from the local dealer. You might want to try the CA dealers for better pricing.

I went ahead and took the deal. I would think I would have to work a buttload harder to get them to budge any more. My salesman claimed the convertible 335 he ordered for his wife they wouldn't even give him a discount as an employee. So in the end, not the best deal but still a good one that I an sleep with at night. Sparkling graphite/coral red, end of November delivery.

30 days on a custom order? HA! The trip overseas is nearly a month, and that doesn't even include the construction of the car, waiting for a ship, processing at the VPC, transport from the VPC to the dealer, and the 1 or 2 days that the dealer takes to prep the car.

Glad to hear that you went ahead and ordered the car though. You'll love it!

WTF what happend to the promise of "you'll get it by the end of the month?"

Ok if they meant end of Nov. all along then that's cool but otherwise typical dealership BS again.
