Advice needed: AA Bov not blowing

Hey guys,

Over the weekend, I installed my AA bov to my stock 335. Once everything was installed, tried it for the first time, no blow off happened. I could see the valve inside moving when revved but no blow off.

So I took it for a drive when warmed up, no blowing off on any gear changes at all, no error mesages on the dash, car driving exactly as before installed. Tried revving to 6k before changing gears and heard a little blow off however hardly noticeable.

What could be the issue here? the vacuum line is going to the T from the factory line, where one side is capped off (as I did not want to break the nipple on the intake manifold when installing). Do you think I have a leak somewhere?

At idle, the bov doesnt seem to be puffing air, and I can hear a very slight hissing noise from somewhere. this also normal?

I can upload a video if that helps identifying the problem.

My guess is if you hear a hissing you might have a leak somewhere.....

There are 2 nipples on the AA bov typically. Do you have the vacuum line hooked to the top or the bottom? Should be on the top fitting.

Yes, it is connected to the top one. However if I had a leak, would it not show an engine light on the dash?

No. Did you purchase the bov specific to your car ?

Did you purchase it with a charge pipe ?

Bov have different lb. springs of you got universal one make sure you have the correct spring for your car. I'm not sure what bmw vacume pressure is. My supra used a 10lb.

Yep, the bov came with teh charge pipe. It is the Active Autowerke BOV made for the n54.

Do I need to fiddle with the screw on the top of the horn?

It would take a while for the adaptations to get out of spec enough to cause a light. Might have to give them a buzz tomorrow of you can't find it. The caps didn't blow off the factory DV locations did they?
Don't adjust the screw on top!

Il check the caps, I dont think they have flown off as I secured them tight.

Isit still safe for me to drive the car, knowing the blow off is not working?

Vacuum pressure between vehicles doesn't deviate a whole lot. You can drop in a universal BOV on nearly any vehicle and it will work without adjustment so long as the spring isn't very tight (most aren't). Most of the adjustment has to do with vacuum/pressure transitions.

I have AA BOV and chargepipe combo as well. I have read somewhere that for the top bolt, there should be 6 rings to be seen to be correct. Mine works fine and it also has 6 rings visible. Just FYI.

I never put a BOV on a stock car but it might not be enough boost to make that much noise.

At any rate a hissing noise doesn't necessarily sound right. Maybe get a video.
