Upgrading turbos
Hi guys,
I know this has been covered many times but wanted opinions on getting turbos rebuilt / upgraded locally. Ive looked into Vargas and RB but has anyone had experience with anyone locally rebuilding turbos to the same specs as vargas / RB ? Thanks |

I'm sure you can get them rebuilt/upgraded and probably get the same (larger) compressor and exhaust wheels as RBs/Vargas but there's no guarantee on performance and/or quality. Also, they're unlikely to upgrade the wastegate to billet Aluminium like the RBs have due to cost of making a one off upgrade so you'd eventually run into the problem of wastegate rattle down the track.
Stage 2s are bloody expensive, especially for us in Australia, but they are still the best, and arguably only sensible, option at this time in my opinion. Happy to be proven wrong however.

RB turbos are the way to go, we had some turbos upgraded here in Sydney some time ago. Big waste of time and money they actually LOST power.
We have done quite a few RB sets now and have another three sets coming, sorry all sold. ![]() Again RB turbos are the way to go, just takes a while to get them. ![]() If i can help just give me a ring or PM me |

anyway of reducing the wastegate sound? Possible to add a BOV to reduce the sound / to make sure the actuators are not used?
Im not too literate with how the breathing side of the engine works in this case. |

How long did you have to wait for turbos?
I'm removing my turbos at the moment then sending them to RB Did you have to send your turbos over, or did he have a few RHD over there? |

My turbo's are now ready for DHL to pick up. total time for this order was 8 weeks. But we have had Thanks Giving and Christmas so it is expected to take a little longer. And that was for three sets

I have already started pulling my car apart. It will probably take me another wknd to get them out.
I have a work car so its fine. I am keen to have in tuned by 31 march for drags. I'm upgrading a few things so I'll just send my turbos over. (clutch flywheel , swapping from godspeed to helix intercooler, trying PTF pro tune and Terry's RB maps) I guessed 2 months by the time I send them over. Cheers |
