Does your new US spec 535D have a dipstick?

We that have the older M57 engine in our 335D and X5D are afforded this benefit. I've also read that the 4 cylinder diesel in the 328D has it.

Some of us have been over on "the fest" listening to the petrol guys lament about no dipstick.

I'm wondering about the N57 equipped US 535D now.

Not answer to the question but ALL the BMWs I maintain have a dipstick. It's great changing the oil with my compressed air driven 6 gallon topsider unit. I could change the oil and filter wearing a suit and not get it dirty for about $70, even on the D.

They should because the oil level should be checked at each fill up. Just incase it's making oil out of fuel.

realoem.com lists a dipstick for the US 535d (and for the EU 530d).

Some cars don't have a dipstick. Supposedly you can check the oil level using the cars sensors. I have one of those cars, but it's not a BMW.

I don't know where you would put them. The new d's do not have dipsticks.

The car monitors the oil, and lets you know if it is getting low. There is a spot in the iDrive where you can go in and measure if you are paranoid.

My intention was for a US based 535D owner to answer with positive or negative. If realOEM has it shown, i think we're done. Thank you Floyd. My perception was that a brand new car wouldn't have the data loaded in relaoem for a little while. Its been about 6 months or so since 535D hit our shores .... atleast at local dealer in Clear Lake Texas.

In the other thread (that Floyd wrote in as well), the reasoning was that most people don't check their oil and so the non stick/use sensor way would make BMW protect its product in a more direct control way. So, i ask again "Why do they revert back to stick way for the diesels?" Floyd, the N57 is new so we can't point to it being old design and "leave it alone" as it will be go away by attrition and be replaced with sensor only design. Personally, I'm thrilled that diesels are treated differently but just don't understand why.
