Exhaust (flap?) question on a 335is

I was wondering if the golf tee mod, or really, the exhaust as a whole, works the same way on a 335is as it does on a 335i. When I start my 335is from cold, it seems that exhaust only comes out of the passenger side pipe. The car sounds great though.

Would disconnecting the little harness in the trunk produce the same results as it does with the 335i and keep both open at the same time?

Yes it works the same, just disconnect the plug.

Don't disconnect the plug. You will get fault codes.
The correct method is to plug the hose or crimp it on some fashion.
You can use a zip tie to hold it after you pinch it.
You can also use a surgical hose clamp.

No offense man but that is ill-advised. Disconnecting the plug is a much easier and reversible way.

Ive had my flap hose plugged since 2010. No issues and if i still ran the stock exhaust with the flap, it can be returned to stock operation in a couple of minutes

Either way is reversible.
The way the dealer installs a performance exhaust is not to disconnect the plug but to crip or otherwise obstruct the hose.

Unplugging the pump will throw a shadow code or sometimes the SES light.
Blocking the hose throws no codes.

Yes it works the same, my dad did this with his old 135i w/sport exhaust as well. My IS sounded noticeably louder around town and a good deal louder on a cold startup.

Actually, I use a surgical hose clamp inside the panel where the plug is located.
$2.00, no codes and as easy as unplugging.

YMMV.

Look under car on drivers side exhaust, find the vac hose, take surgical hose clamp, clamp hose, drive.

It's really about the easiest "mod" you can do.

There is an access port inside the trunk, no need to go under the car.
Buy this or something like it:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRC2532-Red-...item27d9142407

Get it diagonally over the hose then clamp tight.
Use a piece of string so you don't drop it into the hole.

Done.

Unplug the damn thing. Takes all of 10 seconds. If your stealership busts your balls over a flapper code you have bigger problems.
