I have just bought some seats to do the exact same. As it's just for the bolsters I think I'll just run it into the cigarette lighter as that will be off the ignition.
If I decide to do the lumbar support as well, I'll buy the proper harness. |

Hmm I'm not sure this will work as the seat module needs a Lin Bus signal as well as power and earth to work.I maybe wrong but there's a fair size multiplug on those seats.

From the DIY found elsewhere on this site, the bolster support don't run through any module.
The wiring for the bolsters under the seat are red/blue and brown iirc, and splicing them with a 12V supply works fine. As I mentioned earlier, if I eventually upgrade to lumbar support as well, I'll buy both harnesses but as it's is just now, I'll just add power. |

If it's one of the early ones will need a live and earth for passenger seat the airbag and seat occupy are already there
On the drivers it's live and earth with a tracer wire for the memory if I remember correctly its blue and white this is to ignition I wouldn't run from the cig lighter is run from the fuse box |

Having a read at this thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229396 it would seem we only have to apply power to the correct cabling and it will work.
I will be trying this over the next day or 2 so will update with results! |

I gave this a bash last night but something isn't right...
On the seat side of the harness, the only power leads I have going in are pin 7 (Red and black striped) for 12V+, and pin 13 (Brown) for 12V-. I followed the wires up to see what goes where and the brown does not go to the switch, but loops back towards the pump. The red/black lead splits, 1 end up to the switch, and the other to the pump. On the switch side there are 3 wires obviously to cover the 2 positions on the switch. With 12V+ sourced from the front cigarette lighter plug connected to the red/black of pin 7, the pump is continually on, and is on the "widen" setting. With the back of the set removed and my finger over a small hole on the pump, the seat bolster inflates quite rapidly, but when I remove my finger it then deflates. I am guessing I will need to have a closer look at the switch and see what goes where. It could be that the pump in my drivers seat is defective so I will test with the passenger seat to see if it acts the same. |
