Turbos being replaced under CPO

I have 93k on my vehicle and have noticed a slight WG rattle recently. BMW is going ahead and replacing my turbos. Boost On

CPO with 93K miles and they are covering your turbos? That's a shock.

Why is this a shock?

"BMW Certified Pre-Owned: Covers you for 2 years/50,000 miles* whichever comes first, after the expiration of the 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty for a total of 6 years/100,000 miles.* This includes up to 6 years of 24/7 Roadside Assistance and BMW Assist™ Emergency Call, which includes automatic collision notification, and TeleService."

You're right at the 6 year mark and 7,000 miles from 100,000. If your build date was 2008 then it's not as big of a shock as I thought. But the turbo warranty is 8 years, 80,000 miles (last I checked, could be wrong) which falls under the "whichever comes first" clause I think. I guess I just didn't realize CPO squashes the 80,000 miles marker.

I'm thanking my lucky stars that CPO squashes turbo warranty. $7k-8k job is not something I would enjoy paying for.

At that point, if you'd been denied the warranty coverage, I would have personally started looking to upgrade. No way I'd pay that much for stock snails.

I wish they would replace turbos in Canada like they do for you. All over these boards i hear people getting them replaced under warranty. Took to indy shop and they say the turbos should definitely be replaced due to how bad the wastegates are. Went to the dealer and instead i got stuck with a $2600 bill for simply adjusting wastegates. 4 months later they were as loud as ever. Dealer said they can adjust them again, for another $2600. Was throwing 30FF codes too both times.

Surprised they even replaced for waste gate rattle, my SA told me they don't replace turbos for waste gate rattle because the problem often returns. Your lucky man, wish they'd replace my turbos for that.

I also told them I had nuclear mushroom cloud plumes coming out my exhaust when WOT. I'm hoping they do a walnut shell blast as well

You can't get CPO or Extended Warranty in Canada?

Yea we have both. But they just hate replacing turbos here. They give you the blank stare when you mention the service bulliten in the USA. They'll only go and adjust wastegates before end of warranty it seems just as a band-aid till your off warranty. I never go back to the stealership again now. Waiting for my turbos to completely fail as I will order up the RB's once they're gone.

So I dropped my car off this past Thursday because of wastegate rattle. Vargas 58k miles. I had the service rep come outside and I made sure he heard the rattle. He agreed it was definitely wastegate/turbo rattle. Got a call today saying they are keeping the car over the weekend to work on it. They just need approval from BMW to do the work, and they will be replacing my turbos.
