e91 - Radio problems

Hi,

I have a 318 Touring 2008. Signals from my radio is bad. They can be "ok" when the car is standing still, but as soon as I start to drive I get interference and bad signal.
Autosearch do not find any channels.

I have replaced the diversity antenna amplifier located under the spoiler, as the printboard had some points covered in corrosion. The antenna-amplifier was bought used (part of a 2010 318 touring) from an autopartstore. The printboard was as new.

I have also checked cables going from the back door and to the actual chassi. Everything looks ok. Also the remote key are working well.
I connected an external antennacable to the antennacable coming from the radiomodule, and got a perfect signal.

Anybody here had the same problem? Do anybody know where the actual antennas/anntennapoints are located? Can the battery have something to say?

Really hope that somebody can help here, as I am starting to get VERY frustrated.

Thank you so much! That might be the answer to my problems. However, I have a couple of questions;

1. You removed the "right side passenger inner panel". Where exactly is that panel, and how do you remove it?

2. Diversity Antenna Amp Plug: Do this contain cables from all the antenna points? Do you know where the points are?

3. How did you dismantle the antenna amp plug?

Really appreciate your help!

These steps are from my memory so be careful when pulling things apart and do this at your own risk. If you are not comfortable in doing this let someone else do this that has the know-how.

1. its item #13 in this diagram, but you have to remove item #6 first.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...49&hg=51&fg=40

a. Remove the spoiler and gain access to the diversity amp.

b. To remove the item #6 you need to pop off item #7 then remove the screw that is holding the piece in. The pull the top away slightly and twist towards the front of the car to slide it out.

c. remove all of the panels that cover the battery compartment.

d. remove all of the screws on the side (4 or 5 I don't remember how many exactly) 3 are in the cargo cover channel and 2 are under the battery covers

e. remove the plastic snap rivet at the front upper section

f. gently start unsnapping the remaining snaps at the top, get spares they break

g. remove roof speaker grilles

h. rear of headliner is held in place by the rubber hatch seal

i. unsnap the headliner in the middle rear, its held by item #15 in this diagram. Most likely you will break it so get a spare, it slides into a channel on the headliner and is pushed into a metal clip with barbs in the roof of the car.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...40&hg=51&fg=40,

j. be careful not to break the channel that holds item 15 in the above step to the headliner and be careful not to crease the headliner

k. gently unsnap the black cover that is hiding the loom and start pulling on the correct wires.

2. it's a plug on the right (passenger) side of the car that has 4 wires going into it. Goes into the rubber boot/grommet into the hatch then into the car under the headliner.
When your are pulling the old wires out pull a nylon string or two with the old wires, that way it is easier to pull the new wires through.

3. I soldered new wires under the headliner first then pulled them through the boot /grommet and soldered them to the pigtails in the plug. Stagger your solder joints and use shrink tubing to cover the solder joints.
