320d n47 noisy when cold?

Hi all, wondering if I have a problem or just a charicteristic,

when cold my car at like 2k revs the engine is noisy almost like there's an under tray rattling or something, dump the clutch then it's quiet.

After about 3-4 minutes it's all quiet and normal can't hear a thing.

It's a 2011 320d on 55k miles.

Appreciate any advice,

Jamie

Had a similar problem on an old golf I had, it was the DMF, sorry can't offer anymore help than that, hope it's not that, it was nearly £700 to sort out on a golf if I remember rightly

Should still be under warranty as less than 12 months ago surely??

Yeah just can't believe it's gone again haha! I mean it's not horrendous sometimes it's worth just living with things rather than taking them in having stuff replaced & making it worse no? It's still under manufacturers warranty anyway as it's less than 3 years old

In that case I'd be getting it looked at ASAP, if it's less than 3 years old you shouldn't just have to live with it. When the DMF was rattling on my golf the noise done my head in, no way I could have lived with it, take advantage of you're warranty, I would

Maybe I'm describing it worse than it actually is, I mean you can only hear it when the radio is off & it's not vibrating through the car, just a bit of a grrrrrrrrrrrrr noise louder than the usual 4 pot Hampster wheel noise

uk 330d - I've just been out now sat in it & put the clutch in and out (it's cold) and doesn't change engine tone at all, does this mean it's ok?

Not sure mate, but the rattle will come from the gear box so the engine note shouldn't change anyway. But trust me I'm no expert, my opinion is only based on having had something similar on another car.
