330i N53 Rough idle from cold start

Had my e90 330i for less than 2 months, its recently started to have a rough idle on cold start and the car shakes a bit then after 5 mins of driving it goes away. The car has done 79k.

I also noticed that it has a high oil consumption, I put in 1L of oil about 5 to 6 weeks ago and yesterday the oil light was back on for another top up. I maybe done about 1500 miles in that time. Is this normal?

Get your codes read.

I had a similar problem recently and it turned out to be injectors. I had coils and plugs already replaced.

Usually the rough idle is plugs, coils and injectors in order of expense.

There is also a coil quality enhancement (QE) from BMW so contact your dealer to ask if there is anything QE's outstanding on the car.

Getting codes read first will give you some idea though.

I had this, the longer i left the car without starting the worse it was - turned out to be leaking injectors

after doing some digging I think it could be a bad CCV as a symptom of that is rough idle along with the high oil consumption.

Fault codes is your first priority. Could be any of the above suggestions and I will throw in O2 sensors to the possible causes.

You will need to get them read by a diagnostic machine

yeah I guess so.

Would it be worth trying some injector cleaner? This rough idle only started after I put in a tank of v-power fuel.

Getting codes read via diagnostics it the next best step. You can then decide from there, else you are just throwing money away without knowing exactly what the problem is or might be.
