UK buyers for Irish cars?

Guys, you know the way us Irish always look at uk car sites to buy cars, even with our VRT system, it can still work out better to buy from the uk. Even if you don't save money, you stand a better chance of getting a better spec'd car with documented history for the same as an Irish car.

My question is the other way around though, would a uk buyer consider an Irish car?

I was considering placing my E90 on a uk site but not sure if it's worth it for uk buyers?

My April 2007 318d sport has only 44k from new and family owned since new. My brother in law bought it from our local main dealer in 2007 and we bought it from him in 2009. Have all the original finance paperwork etc

It has full documented service history, not BMW but independents who stamped and signed the book and also provided receipts, I would be pretty anal in that regard. My partner has owned it since 2009 while I've had the fancier stuff, 525d, 530d, 535d, V8 X5 etc

Generally no, because its a resale nightmare, probably a mess for insurance too.

Friend of mine just did. He needed trade plates to get it home. Then mot ed it and registered it with the dvla. Don't think it was cheap but it was the car he wanted

There is plenty of stock over here, so unless it was a very rare car I doubt it.

Also the hassle will put people off.

Only for a rare / desirable car as has been mentioned - otherwise the re-registration, temporary insurance, new plates, reg transfer on history make it far too much agg.

(unless you keep in on Ireland plates as the poster above is presumably suggesting)

Not sure if this is useful to you, but my dads friend bought an e92 m3 in Dublin 2 years ago. He had it on Southern plates for that time, but he then registered it in the North where he lives. He was able to claim the VRT on it. Not entirely sure of the details as to why/how he was able to do this but I'll try and find out for you.

Cheers lads. Kinda had a felling it wouldnt be worth the hassle for a UK buyer. Be a different story if i had something exotic i suppose.

Thanks.
