ok everyone is right-earthquakes have terrible sound
So after weeks of struggling I finally got my earthquake 2ohms driven by RF 500 punch amp coupled to my M3 Dirac system. I now have a new found respect for BMW and how they setup and chose speakers. The OEM 8 inch woofers had 150w to each one powered by stock 825 w amp and had pretty amazing sound but just lacked deep bass. I faulted BMW thinking why can they use decent bass but I now have earthquakes in and wow, ssweet bass but total loss of mid bass!!DDidn't know what that meant until I heard it! Almost like I just hear high notes and deep lows but no mid range. I went back to one OEM woofer under passenger seat and one earthquake under driver and sounds a million times better. I personally recommend if your looking for a couple notches more bass without losing mid range and don't want to spend 500 on kehnerts, just replace one with quake. Power the OEM with more power and it sounds pretty amazing. I may try jehnerts next just to see but will never go back to two quakes!!

I agree. But I track my car and didn't want to put weight in and also figured it would be cheaper. Should have got trunk sub.
However the quakes totally give huge base and if we had some 5.5-6 inch speakers in the doors I think the quakes would rock |

Get the Jenherts and a Dynaudio Esotar 1200 sub IB in you trunk. PM Don (6spdcoupe) on this forum and he will hook you up.

Well. My loss is everyone's gain. Anyone wanting to do quakes, definetly try keep one OEM woofer powered by 125-150 w under passenger seat. And quake under drivers seat. I absolutely can't tell where the mid bass or bass ate coming from and its much nicer listening experience vs quakes on both side give ridicously strong base that over powers all els

Upgrading your 4" speakers greatly improves the midbass. I have the Focal IFBMW-S speakers and they do a pretty good job down to ~100 Hz but you will still have to give that section a boost in the EQ settings. I set up my amp crossovers to LP at 110 for the earthquakes and HP at 100 for the Focals.
