when I bought my car new I vowed no more paint chips or blemishes. well the paint chip one went out of the window in the first week. our decrepit roads are constantly disintegrating and cars are being sandblasted by tiny pieces of tarmac daily, nothing much can be done about that. the latest thing I have noticed is tiny brown spots which I assume is bird crap. in a panic to prevent them staining ive been wetting a finger and rubbing them off big mistake!! ive just got the car in the garage to give it a wax and I notice that where ive been rubbing the spots off I have actually diluted the shit and its stained a larger area. so it looks like when I have time a flat with wet and dry and a machine polish to get rid of it. I think ill leave the car in the garage and not use it!

That was a rant. Lol. Hopefully it can all be resolved easily. My car is bright red. I only need a bird poo to touch it and I think it'll burn through to metal, the paint is so thin.

Do you use a sealant after polishing? A decent one will give paintwork that extra level of protection against bird shit etc... aslong as the offending shit is removed completely within a couple of days i think it is then it wont stain.

I think this must be super birdshit as I wash it off as soon as I see it. its these tiny spots that are doing the damage don't even know where its coming from but im sure every bird up there is looking for my car as it rarely comes out of the garage! went too hastings the other day on the bike and seagulls were landing in pairs on car roofs, goodness knows what damage their shit would do. I haven't used a sealant but the car was treated with BMW hardwax from new which is the stuff they charge a fortune for.

Tiny spots sound more like fallout from the atmosphere to me rather than bird poo. Are you parked near a train line or manufacturing plant etc? Try a fall out remover like ironx or purple rain by autobrite to get rid of them!

if you park in a train car park when the trains come into the station and apply the brakes your car gets covered in hot iron filings that burn into the paintwork and is impossible to get out! You need to Iron-X it then wash, clay, polish, wax and seal the paint.

That's a full detail but the Iron-X is the key. Mrs Statler's Jag XF has really hard iron filled brake pads and it's white. Constantly covered in brown rusty marks but the Iron-X does the job.

SRP has it uses, but it is a filler based product, and as such, will mask the issue rather than correct it.

As others said, IronX to deal with fall out, and then just lots of layers of protection.
