Factory tint percentage

Does anyone know the percentage tint that BMW put on their rear window tint?

Thanks!

Interested to know this too. Had my rear windows tinted, but it ended up being so much darker than I though it would be. It makes sense since when you see samples in a showroom with bright lights on, you can see through the tints much easier. Had to take them off, as it felt like it was night time all the time.

I too would be very interested to know, as unfortunately my car doesn't have the factory option so I'd be looking to have it tinted, hopefully to a similar level to OEM. Help appreciated

Thanks. Very surprised you have the stock tint though Josh, it looks quite dark on your photos! Good to know as I'm aiming for a similar level of tint to yours - it looks perfect.

That's a bit concerning, is it really that bad? My previous car had a fairly heavy (stock) tint and I can't remember it ever being a problem!

No i do not have stock tint.

I was stopped and was forced to have my tints ripped off the front.

They tested before and after and gave me a speech at the side of the road.

My tints are 35% light through or 65% dark

Supposedly 20% light through or 80% dark can get you points on the spot even for a first time offence

It doesn't worry me too much because I use the door mirrors when parking or reversing but for anyone that likes to look through the rear screen it could be a real problem, certainly after dusk it's next to impossible to see anything at all out of back screen.

Fair enough. I'll risk it as I've never found it a problem on previous cars

I'm sorry to hear that Josh, the tints looked awesome

While we're on the topic, may I ask how you got around the dot matrix issue on the back window Josh? I've read the threads on it and there seem to be several ways to overcome it. What method did you use, vinyl? Cheers.
