VRSF Charge Pipe Fitment and Pneumatic Flow Question

I just tried installing a VRSF charge pipe w/ Tail BOV on my '07 335i this weekend.

Problem: The elbow that came with the kit is too short. Even adding a .75" extension, it's still too short and pops of at 4K rpm. Further, the intercooler side is still a bit short. Anyone else have this problem?

Question: Does it really matter that the charge pipe is 3" when it's being reduced to 2.5" at the intercooler pipe? Why not make the charge pipe 2.5" all the way through?

I did not have this issue on my chargepipe coupler however my turbo out to intercooler coupler could have used another inch of rubber as the coupler does not have the best connection to the IC and looks very similar to your bottom photo's connection however is holding boost and has not blown off yet but i do plan on getting under the car to see if i can get a better sealed connection

Try unclipping the IC pipe from the radiator. I know it's a little tighter on the 09+. Should free up some slack

It's definitely shorter than it could be.

You have to get it exact and also crank down on the t clamps.

I had that coupler blow off 2-3 times under boost.

The benefit of having a larger diameter charge pipe near the throttle body is to "slow" the charge air down to decrease turbulence and help the air make the 90* bend more easily. As volume goes up and flow stays the same, velocity will fall. This slowing effect will also help "even" out the flow between runners in the manifold's plenum.

This! Great idea if you need an extra inch although I don't think it's necessary personally.

You also seem to have the coupler kinked according to the picture you posted below. Undo the t-bolts, rotate the coupler so that it's aligned free of any kinks or restriction and then tighten the t-bolts.

I've installed quite a few of these and never had one blow off. Just be patient and make sure the clamp stays aligned when tightening. They have a tendency to mis-align when applying force.

My lower charge pipe section blew off too. It looked exactly like the last pic you posted. I couldn't get it to line up in order to allow the clamp to get a good "bite" on it. Luckily I ordered the optional lower pipe from VRSF the same time I got my intercooler. Took the stock piece out and replaced it with that piece. Problem solved.

Mine was also short, I ended up getting another coupler off the siliconeintakes website and cut it to fit.

Same here and cracked a radiator hose. No fun at all I agree they could be longer but at least there's still enough to get the job done. Just need to get it right and tighten it really good and when you think it's tight enough tighten it a little more lol

Looks like I'll have to add an inch to each side in the next batch. If anyone who's purchased one from us in the past needs a longer coupler we can provide you with one free of charge, just e-mail us with your order number. The longer couplers are pretty long and will need to be trimmed to suit your needs

Mine is set up perfectly until I have to replace that tube with your extension when I get your FMIC.

I'll replace the coupler then!

As always, Tiago pulls through with nothing but the best customer service.

Why cant it be the easy with all vendors?
