CAI?!?!

Wondering what Intakes everyone is running.....

I see the Dual cone from BMW and VRSF for about $100

Then AFE has some in the 400-800 range.

Any difference and benefits of the two separate systems?

Thanks smart car guys!

The stock airboxes are pretty efficient, but a BMS or VRSF dual cone setup is cheap, gives more filtered surface area and the S&B filters they use are pretty good quality.

Couldn't justify the AFE personally. Never been a fan of Injen's quality from research based on last car.

I run the AFE DCI in mine, and im happy with it... Although any real difference in performance over stock is minimal at best, I feel like the heat shield the AFE has between the engine and the filters definitely helps keep the intake temps down (especially compared to that BMS DCI)... less wear and tear on the turbos and we all know cooler air = more power. How much more? certainly nothing you would notice in a 1/4 mile run, but anything i can do to keep intake temps down is something im in favor of.

Ok, well I dropping in a K&N filter a few weeks ago as I am sure that helps a bit. I am looking to get a ProTune and see the claims AFE makes of gaining near 30hp and 30lbs. Was thinking I should do this before a ProTune if this is true. Don't wanna toss money in the trash though....

This.

Honestly our stock airbox is very good. Personally if u can do it Make a Mr. 5 intake. There has been testing, logs and plenty off data to justify this and also prevents heatsoak. But really drop in is fine.

Don't waste your money on a $300-400 intake when the DCI and Mr. 5 intake are outperforming the competition at a fraction of the cost. I had the BMS DCI on my last car and had great results. Once Cobb gets their map up and running for my current car's DME, I'll be running the VRSF DCI. If you're looking for cosmetic/visual wise then pick up a better looking intake ($300-400) but if you're looking for just straight performance, the DCI or Mr. 5 intake is a no brainer

Once the air goes throw your glowing red hot turbos it doesn't really matter. Fastest N54s with twins use DCI.
