Should I purchase the additional extended warranty?
Hey everyone, so at the end of this month, my warranty will be expiring. Can't believe it's been 4 years already....just wondering what everyone things about getting the extended warranty? I haven't checked what options there are, or how much they go for, but I thought I would ask the community before even checking. I've been FBO since 12 K miles and im at 40 K now. I got my vanos bolts replaced and took the car in for service for one last time. But knock on wood, my car hasn't given me any major problems, she runs like new. What do you guys think I should do? Any advice is appreciated! I'll probably keep the car for another 2-3 years.
Thanks in advance!

How much longer do you plan on keeping the car? If you can afford the extended warranty then I would definitely do it. But if you only plan on keeping the car for a year or so, I doubt an extended warranty will pay for itself. I plan on expanding my CPO to a platinum wrap. I contacted Jeff Steele at Passport BMW and received some great pricing.

It all depends on what your plans are for your car. You have already taken care of the VANOS issue, other common issues in our platform are the water pump, A/C evap and the HPFP. Not sure how much the extended warranty is but my guess is around 2K?
If you are meticulous with your maintenance i wouldn't buy the extended unless money is not a problem for you. If your turbo fails you can always upgrade to a stage 1 My 2 cents

Statistically speaking: do you think they sell the extended warranty and loose money on it? Depending on the conditions (up to how many miles? How much is covered?) it might be interesting if you really drive a lot more during the upcoming extended warranty time, if not, statistically, it is most likely not interesting (especially if they refuse expensive warranty work due to FBO).

I have CPO on my car, but I would never purchase it if given the choice. I was told it was a little under $3k. You can fix quite a bit of stuff for that price.

Dun waste time....
Y? I believe extended warranty is only for engine n transmission only. Exclude wear n tear parts... Save the money for turbo, coilovers forged internals. |
