XD600 + Focal IFBMW-S + subwoofer option?
Hi guys,
So like many I went with the XD600 + Focal component drop in route. The upgraded sound is fantastic but I still feel bass is a bit muddy. Does anyone have a good recommendation on a set of drop in subwoofers that would compliment the focals? I know focal now makes a drop in sunder seat subwoofer set but I haven't seen any reviews. Thanks in advance! |

Well, your options are pretty limited. How big of a bass head are you? For me, I'm a pretty big basshead. I went the earthquake sws-xi route thinking it would at least satisfy the low end cravings I had, but there was still a "missing piece" to the low end, in addition to the lacking midbass. I ended up wasting money on the earthquakes only to find that I'm in the middle of adding a trunk subwoofer and setting up my underseats for dedicated midbass.
1. If you aren't a bass head but are looking for "alright" bass, get the earthquakes. 2. If you are more into musicality, go for the dedicated mid bass underseats such as jehnerts, maestros, or even the OEM woofers bandpassed at about 80-200Hz. 3. If you can think long term, which you should if you plan on owning this BMW for a while, I would totally recommend dedicating your underseats for midbass, as well as a trunk subwoofer. |

I have this exact same setup. I ran my XD600/6 with Focal IFBMW-S with the stock subs for a few months and was pretty pleased. This past weekend though I upgraded to the SWS-8XI subs and there is a huge difference! They compliment the IFBMW-S setup very nicely and the bass is much tighter than with the stock subs. That being said, dont expect them to sound like a dedicated 12" sub. They do put out some decent bass though.

I'd recommend the Jenhert Flatline 3 way kit over the focal kit. If you don't want a lot of bass the Jehnert subs should be enough on their own, otherwise you need a real subwoofer.

The v2 is simply the secon version of the XD600/6 -signal sensing selection, and other tweaks are the additions/changes.
