P205B...
So the past few days it's been cold as balls in Chicago (averaging 13F ambient, plus 25-40mph winds), and my car's thrown a P205B code twice. The description is "Reactant tank temperature sensor range/performance".
I have a service appointment tomorrow night, but was curious if anyone's ever run in to this before. Is something actually broken, or is my car just bitching that it's cold? The google machine says this refers to the temperature sensor integrated into the active DEF tank, and is not separately replaceable--thank goodness I'm on extended warranty, because it's allegedly a $1200 part plus 4.5 hours labor to replace. |

Not that I have an affinity for them, but aren't balls usually warm?

My car threw P205C, Reductant Tank Temperature Sensor Circuit Low, at around 40,000 miles one relatively cold morning. Took it in the next day and they replaced the tank. A couple months later the tank started leaking due to the urea pump over pressurizing my tank. That time they were able to just change the malfunctioning part rather than the whole tank assembly. No problems since

Service advisor wasn't surprised in the least...said "we typically replace a bunch of the urea tanks when the weather gets cold...". Very glad I got the extended warranty, as I'm just past the factory warranty and in Illinois, the federal emissions warranty covers exactly two things: Catalytic converter and PCM.

Got it back today...sensor was bad, and there was a bunch of frozen urea around the vent near the temp sensor. They replaced the tank with a revised part that's supposed to have a better vent that doesn't freeze up so easily.
