Aftermarket upgrade Angel-eyes from halogen to LED (2010 E91) with Xenon Headlights

Hi everyone,

I have just become the very happy owner of a 2010 E91 M Sport 320D, which has Xenon headlights, but halogen Angel-Eyes.

As seems quite popular with BMW owners, I am looking at upgrading these halogen factory fitted bulbs to LED. However, I am baffled by all of the bulbs on the market. I have searched this, and other forums, and still am unsure as to whether it is at all unwise to purchase LED bulbs that are made by a third party, i.e not OEM.

I would like this upgrade to be as professional as possible, and so will steer clear of budget bulbs. But I am concerned whether any of the options out there cause issues with battery usage, warning indicators etc.

Basically, what is the best way to upgrade - what bulb to get? I have searched for 'OEM genuine BMW LED upgrade E90 angel eyes' etc, but not having much luck in finding actual OEM bulbs.

Anyone able to shed any 'light' on this please?

Many thanks,

W_S

H8 LED bulbs.
Check horizon leds in our classified section.

Mind you that some of these cheap one interfere with radio reception. So test them thoroughly in first week.

Thanks for that makkan. I have read that some of the bulbs cause a strobing/flashing when the ignition is started. Do you happen to know if this is an issue for all aftermarket bulbs or just some of the ones on offer?

Thanking you

Only some buddy. If you make sure you purchase from a reputable seller like Horizon LEDs then you won't have any problems.

That's a great help - thanks. As soon as I can move away from the yellow halogen eyes then I reckon I am there with this car. Only thing letting it down!

Cheers

No - we have always designed our own products and dont simply resell other products. I see no benefit to having a gold anodizing coating - honestly i would imagine that hinders heat radiation rather than helping. Our current LUX H8 V4 lights are rated much higher then 40W anyways. Check our posting on Friday to see what we have available.

This may be wholly irrelevant if they are not available in the UK.

Just when I think I have made a decision on which peice of kit to get, someone else provides a counter-argument and I return to square one!

There's also another method of getting LED AEs but it involves taking the lights out, taking the outer glass/plastic off and replacing the whole AE setup with powered LED rings, a far more involved process but the end result is far better IMO.

Google Orion V4 for pics
