Thinking of selling and upgrading to M3

So I've been thinking of upgrading to a M3. As time goes by, it makes me sad my car goes down in value by so much. The depreciation is terrible for normal 3 series car, while M3's keep their value at least above $30k. Was thinking of picking up a 2011+ M3. My friend bought a 2011 M3 for $50k which really made me think long and hard whether I should upgrade or not. It will be an extra $30k if I sell my car for a decent price. Decisions, decisions.... When weather gets nicer, I'll post a pic of the car. With the mods and 103k kms, how much do you think I can get for the car? Should I upgrade to M3?

EDIT: Oh crap, posted in wrong forum.

Keep the 335i and put that $30k in to realestate... although you'll probably need a lot more.. but its a start

Yeah, $30k is a lot more. Problem with Real estate is that prices are way too high for what they are right now, feels like a lot of room to go down. $400k for a single bedroom condo in a decent location is crazy. I wanna wait and see what happens to real estate before I jump into that. 08 M3's are hovering in the $35-40k range, should I go for that instead? I don't like the older iDrive and there's no competition package either.

You're gonna downgrade to an older car? I wouldn't do that.

How do you figure that's a downgrade? Because it's a year older ?
