Battery problem

Hi,

I have a 2008 E92 335D. I just unlocked it and an error message came up saying "Increased Battery Discharge" Whilst stationary. The trip mileage was reset and so was the time/date.

Car started as normal but the message is still there.

I have an audio system but thats been there for a while and shouldn't have caused this. I also have a dashcam hardwired, but designed to switch off when the voltage reaches below 11V.

I have full BMW Warranty, but i'm thinking could they say im not covered just because of my audio and dashcam?

Check the dashcam regulator if is working fine and switching off.
Increase it to 11.8-12V cut off value.

Does it happen everytime you get it? I would go crazy tbh.

It is not your battery mate. Cars are designed to sense any voltage fluctation when its off.

I have fitted my dashcam in F10. I get this message if the car is parked overnight with dashcam on. But it goes away after I driver it for a while.

Basically car's computer is sensing that there is something which is drawing the current and to prevent it, car cuts off the supply going to fuse box.

It did before i changed the battery, it drove me mad. Bmw wanted £440 all in to put a new battery in and "register" it, i bought one with the same specs as oem for £85 and its been good as gold for the last 2 years

Sam not saying your wrong as you know the electrics and internals of a bmw alot better than me, but when my car started flashing up with this is was bog standard, bar rear lights and led interior lights, but all error free etc so everything should have been shutting down correctly etc, changed the battery and its never happened since

You are correct if car is standard.
In OP's case he has dashcam and amp mate.
So he'll have to disconnect them to rule out if its battery or those external items.

This could be the culprit!

It's disappeared now. If it comes back i'll change the voltage drop off on the dashcam. The message did say something was causing increased discharge which could be dashcam
