Anyone using a different intake or filter? What's available?

I haven't seen many 335d people talking about using an intake and I would really like to try one.

I think it will make the car sound better and I may get slightly better power and mpg's.

What intakes or filters are you guys using???

I had a cone filter in there once, and removed it. The intake temps got pretty high when stopped and took forever to cool back down. I didn't have a shield in there though. The only benefit I saw with the open filter was the turbo and diverter valve sounds.

Did the cone filter fit in alright without any modifications? How much better did it sound?

It sounded better, and the filter fit fine. You need to get kind of a stubby one (maybe 5" long), with a 4" inner diameter for it to fit.

I've been running this for a couple years. AEM dryflow cone filter with a homemade "shield". Also using a modified silicone 90 deg elbow in place of the OEM ribbed connection from the MAF to the turbo intake.

Can't quantify any power impact from it. The intake sound is much more noticeable. I did it mainly for allowing some room for my oil crankcase filter...

Aftermarket air filters and systems are a wonderful way to waste your paycheck and gain 0 performance. This is not an opinion. The car is engineered wonderfully, buy a tuner or better yet have a custom dyno tune done.
