Coding BMW radio from TopHifi to Hifi?

Hi guys,

I was having problems with my radio in my 2009 328i, so I got a replacement radio. Same part number, from a 2009 335i. However, it's set to TopWifi. I believe this is what is causing 1. Low volume output and 2. Hissing from the Aux cable (maybe this is a separate issue). Either way, I want to fix this.

Will the dealer do this for me for free? Is there a way I can do this without it costing too much? If someone could tell me how to do this I would greatly appreciate it, I haven't had much luck finding a solution searching through the forums, although someone told me it's a coding issue.

Thanks!

Edit: The hissing was because the phone I was connecting was a Samsung Galaxy S4. My phone (Nexus 4) does not have this issue. So all is good with that.

I called my local BMW and they were even less helpful. I got transferred to 4 people before they said oh you have the wrong part. I told them I had the correct part number, and they said that they probably couldn't program it, but they could "diagnose" it for $85 and then if they thing they can reprogram it it'll be another $127 and that there are no guarantees. What a joke.

Please someone tell me what I need to do to reprogram this myself. The radio works, I just want to be able to increase the volume!

Thanks!

Look through the coding how to sticky and see if it's something you want to tackle yourself. Otherwise, find someone that can code it in your area.

Coding is not a problem for me, although I've never done it on a BMW. I don't think it should be too hard, but I just don't know if it's possible. I havent found anything in the sticky.

The big sticky at the top is the one that started this forum.

I just used this company called Bimmertech that did something similar to my 07 professional radio. They set it from Logic to HiFi. You have to put down a deposit and they send you a cable. Then you set up a time for them to remote in through your laptop. Your laptop needs to be a windows 7. The coder will be doing this out of Poland so the timing might be tricky. I had mine done at 430 in the morning. It didn't take him very long to do. They send you some links to download. I tried at the dealorship before I used that company and they couldn't do it.
