Second hose blew after first WOT with new IC
Hello!
So couple days back I decided to upgrade my car with 3" downpipes and big intercooler (KL racing aka big tom). Everything went smooth during the install exapt that we forgot to mark O2 sensors and decided to test drive car any way, well after 10 min of driving we heard LOUD explosion under the car with turned out to be hose from my new intercooler. Today we switched lamda sensors and changed damaged hose with was totaly blown. I thought that I passed all my problems so I've switched my cobb to drive stg2+ (mildest map on FBO). During first WOT hose exploaded again... What could possible cause hose to expload like that? Explosion was rly LOUD and scared the shit out of me bouth times. Hose's with I am using look kinda like stock ones, just larger and small difference in material, could they just be bad? Never thought that intercooler has so much pressure in it to blow plastic hose like that. Car - 335i e92 2007 MT euro Tune - cobb st2+ drive Intercooler - KL racing aka BIG TOM Downpipes - 3", no dp fix. I do have a wastegate rattle with I can hear only after 3000rpm. |

cheap silicone couplers will blow like that under higher pressures. not familiar with what kind of couplers they are using in that kit. Take a look at the ends of the coupler and see how many layers there are.

Stock blow off diverters or aftermarket blow off valve? Did you accidently forget to hook the vac line back to the BOV's? That would cause no where for the air to go except kaboom hose or couplers. Eventually kaboom turbo too.

I am sorry for such a late reply, was very beasy lately.
It was just poor quality hoses, I bought some reinforced ones and WOT my car at least 10 times now in 2-3-4 gear's and didn't had any problems (stock tune tho, don't want to risk with cobb yet as I have to drive around 1500 miles tomorrow). I had normal plastic\rubber hoses, with apperently couldn't hold the pressure of big intercooler. |
