What it looks like is you have to pull all injectors out, unplug their electrical connections. loosten the main fuel rail that all the injectors branch off to. Then rotate the fuel rail over 180 degrees, retighten the fuel rail and reconnect all individual fuel lines back to the injectors, do not reconnect the electrical plugs to the injectors (not that they'll reach anyways) then crank the engine. The High pressure fuel pump is driven off the engine rotation which is why it leaks when cranked.

You can reuse the decoupling elements if you're desperate but they're like 2-3$ each so I'd just get new ones unless you're in a pinch.

Thanks brother! I imagined it wasn't to complicated but figured I'd ask just so there's no "uh oh's" midway through this lol.. And just so I have my order correct it goes..

if you remove the injectors, and you want to reinstall them, the o-rings (not to be confused with the decoupler) are supposed to be replaced. the tool to install these o-rings is around $200.

running fine after that,
i took this video in november if im not mistaken
now running ST at 18 psi
no problems

Yes the seals are required to be changed. Even then the seals are only supposed to be out of the sizing tool, or the sizing cap, or cylinder head (they must be changed every time they are removed from the head), a maximum of 10 minutes.

Im not trying to knock you or anything, its a great test. I just caution against not changing the injector seals. If they are compromised it can ruin the cylinder head.

You luck and mileage may vary.

This is the tool you will need to install the o-ring seals on the injectors

They are either not following the proper procedure or getting brand new injectors. The new injectors come with the seals already installed and caps on them. You have to remove the caps and install the new injector within 10 minutes or the seal will over-expand. This can lead to an improper seal in the cylinder head. Combustion pressures (extremely high) can then cause the injector to wobble in the seat in the head and eventually oblong the hole. Then you need a new cylinder head.

+1 the new injectors come with seal installed.
So looks like now its gotten more complex, we all can chip in and order one and, $20 bucks x 10 people, and can mail it around if needed, let me know I'm in

New injector installs don't need that tool. The caps on the injectors keep the seal compressed until you are ready to install. Then pull off the cap and install quickly.

Regarding removing and re-installing used injectors, I suppose it would be ideal to replace the seals and use the the tool above. But I've removed and reinstalled all of the injectors a few times without issues. I do make sure to not have the injector removed for too long, usually less than 30 seconds just to check the tip for damage or excessive soot.

I think they're referring to the test discussed in this thread... if you can pull the whole thing off in 30 seconds you're a damn impressive mechanic

Hah yes that would be impressive. However I bet you could pull off that test without having the injectors out for more than 5 minutes.
