FIXED!! Metal grinding noise rear passenger wheel (PICS ATTACHED)

Got a weird metal noise coming from the rear driver wheel area.

So just driving home from work and got off the free way and stsrted hearing a grinding noise. Very loud squeaks and constant metal noise did not change when brakes applied or in neutral rolling.

Something was bound to happen it has been 2 months since I have spent money on the car and that seemed too long as 335's love eating cash

According to the racv road assist guy it could be the brakes or the wheel bearings.

Getting it towed as we speak back home and will do a thorough inspection in the morning.

If anyone else has had similar issues would love to hear from you

And yes I have made a video and will try my best to upload it when I get home for now enjoy this picture of me sitting and waiting in the cold but the heated seats are keeping me nice and warm

I'm guessing wheel bearings, as they are known to fail.

Yup wheel bearings or a rock caught in between the disc and rotor?

FYI with wheel bearings the noise gets louder the faster you go.

You also could possibly have a bust diff!

Bearings will probably cost you around $500 for parts and labour...

So I think there is some rock or something stuck in between the brake pad and disc. I hope that's all it is and not bearing or diff.

Found a line running along the disc which looks like there may be something stuck (refer to the pics) it feels deep so might get the discs machined as well.

Pics attached

I am gonna wait till the weekend and then get it jacked up and take every thing apart and clean it up hopefully that does it.

if you had taken it to a bmw dealer, you would have been up for a new diff and gearbox haha

Yup seen this before, and i bet you're a happy man now!!!

I once thought I had a flat tyre as the car was making a huge racket, pulled over the tyre looked fine but nup the noise was still there.

Turns out I had ran over a huge chunk of masking tape, on the inner tread block causing a weird arse noise!!

Yea tell me about it, never taken to a dealer and never will they are a rip off. I do most of my stuff DIY its better that way end up saving a lot as well as learning a lot.

Yea tell me about it every little noise gives me a heart attack, it could be so many things but thank god its always been something small.

Ohh and feels so good to drive the car again, its only been a week but driving a Camry for a week was so dull, missed her so much

Just ordered 4 new brake discs should be in this week, actually excited to get them on

Yup DIY where you can is the way

Why did you order new rotors? the score mark from the rock wont hurt anything!

Also you can paint your rotors to have them look like new

Well honestly I wanted to do some work on the car lol have owned the car for a year now and I like to do early maintenance, the discs are a bit low and slightly uneven was gonna get them machined but found discs for a very cheap price so I thought why not. And its a good upgrade, did the pads a few months ago as well.

Gonna try them out to see how they are.

They are Zimmerman rotors and I already have Zimmerman Pads
