Oil leak?
Hi guys , been having a oil leak from my car now for a while , it's not pissing out sadly (as that would be easy to find) but it's dripping about a 1" of oil on my drive over night and starting to make a mess !
It's coming from the turbo side that's all I can see I took out the air box and have everything a clean but tbh it's not showing anything obvious so I think it's leaking between the turbos and the block , I've replaced the U shaped rubber hose with 2 banjo fittings on at the top of the system as that looked damp , but it's not cured the problem sadly , getting a bit fed up taking everything off and on to have a look so just wanted to know if anyone has any idea of known places the system likes to weep from? It also bought a new oil return gasket for the small turbo as again it looked damp Any help or suggestions would be good ! It's a 2007 335d e91 , UK car with about 80k on it Thanks ![]() |

If you have about 1" spot overnight then it looks like an oil leak. If you have narrowed it down to the turbos area then there are only a few places. Oil feed or oil return lines. Look at a diagram on realoem and check all connections.

Might want to also check the red boost pipe on the turbo/IC interface.

It's not the boost pipe
I jet washed everything down that side and left it for a few days Looks to be coming from Between the small turbo compressor housing and the core , have yet to replace the breather but that's the next job (I'm home on Wednesday) Hopefully that sorts the issue if not can you get the big O rings that seal the comp housing to the core easily ? That said that would only stop the oil coming out the turbo not the leak in the turbo so hopefully not the turbo core Thanks |

If you've cleaned up everything well, you might want to check into using UV dye mixed into oil to pin point the leak using a black light bulb (Home Depot, ~$4 for the bulb). I've pinned down power steering system leak this way.
If you have oil all over the place, don't waste your time with the dye. Good luck and hope it isn't the turbo seal. |

No it doesn't consume mass amounts of oil
But it is using oil , Im near 100% certain it's coming from Between the core and the comp housing now and no where else I'm not 100% sure if the turbo seals are blown , but what I do think is excessive oil pressure (due to maybe a blocked or failed breather) is pushing oil past the seals in the turbo (doesn't mean blown) and then when on boost out the seal that seals the compressor housing to the core |
