Limp Mode after CobbV2
Though I recently had walnut blasting done a month ago, I soon began to misfire on Cylinder 5 and 6. After the typical diagnostics (plugs, coils) my Indy shop determined it was faulty fuel injectors. I currently have Index 9, so I ordered 6 Index 12s from Rock Auto, and scheduled an appointment for installation in a few weeks. Because my misfire was only on cold starts and always went away when the engine warmed up, I decided to install my Cobb V2 I just purchased, and tuned to the moderate Stage 1 sport. As I've been driving around with no issues for a few weeks except the cold start misfire, waiting on my fuel injector appointment, everything seemed fine.
However, today when I was going about 60mph, I kicked it down to 4th gear and floored it. I heard a loud 'pop' and the 'engine lost power' and 'service engine' light went on (what I think is limp mode?) I have very little power, so I checked the codes with my Cobb: P0238 - turbo boost sensor 'A' circuit High P0113 P2AAF - fuel pump P2ABC P3100 P2F08 - Intake air temperature sensor signal Any ideas? Bad HPFP? Is this issue related to my faulty fuel injectors or not? Thanks |

My indy shop did some investigation today...
They went to replace the fuel injectors as scheduled and found oil in my valves. There's a huge crack in the actual valve cover. That still doesn't explain my 'pop' and loss of boost, so I asked them to check the charge pipe as well. How do my BMW woes never end?! I'm on the most moderate tune there is... |

The tune brings out any weak points. Valve cover and charge pipes are plastic and prone to cracking. You should really wait till you have a good working injectors before flogging the car around. You don't want to have an injector stuck open or closed. Based on the codes, I would be fairly certain that they should inspect the charge pipe and the TMAP area. I have a feeling something may have cracked or broke near that. I'm not sure the fuel pump code is a concern yet. I'd clear that and see if it comes back up. HPFP issues are not as common of an issue since most have been recalled and replaced. |

Well, in addition to injectors and plugs, and the unexpected huge valve cover crack, they found an intake boot that basically exploded. It's in between the intercooler and throttle body. My understanding is that it's some rubber boot that exploded under pressure? Shop said there were pieces missing and it was beyond repair! No idea if it's because of my tune, or completely coincidental. *off to research E92 intake boot purposes* Very strange... |

There are only 3 boots (technically 4), assuming you are referring to couplers on the factory charge system. 1 at the outlet. 1 Pre intercooler. 1 Post intercooler and one at the upper charge pipe that leads to the throttle body. |
