Removing old wheel weight foam adhesive. Any tips, products?

So I'm trying my best to clean up my summer wheels ready to be swapped over sometime soon. Two hits of Bilt Hamber Auto wheel and they're looking much improved. Used some Tar X which didn't do much despite there seemingly being quite a few tar spots. My main annoyance though is old wheel weight adhesive foam. It's the really nasty black stuff. Tax X had zero impact so I'm wondering the best way to approach it. I'm guessing I need to do a fair bit of careful scraping with a credit card but I'm not sure what product I need to work in. Anyone have good luck with anything?

I use Autosmart Tardis. Brilliant stuff, if you can find it. Let it work its way in to the foam for a few mins and use a plastic trim tool to assist.

Toffee wheel adapter for a drill can be called a decal remover.

Thanks guys. I have to say, quite a lot of what I read pointed me in the direction of Tardis. I think I have some Autoglym tar remover so will try that before I add yet another car cleaning product to the shelf heh.

When i got my new numberplates there was about 600 old foams underneath.

I tried various things, including tar remover and brake cleaner, but the thing i found the most effective was petrol.

Another vote for WD40 or maintainence spray. It's a cheap and easy solution but it does smell quite strong if that bothers you.

Use a hairdryer to soften the adhesive and then trim tool etc. Otherwise WD40 is good.

Oooo. Good call on the floss. I didn't think of that. That sounds the safest. Then I'll try the Autoglym tar remover and WD-40/lighter fluid if I have to.
