Battery register options? Coding?
Hi, I'm trying to buy a new battery for the D and local dealers charging 300+ for battery plus 245 for install/register, which is obviously ridiculous for a battery change.
I have the BT cable but it does not seem to have the battery reset option for our D. It seems that BT doesn't support it much. Can the BMWhat app help me register the D's new non-bmw battery? I plan to buy a battery from autozone or something, but still need to register it. Thanks for any help/input! |

Replaced mine with an autocraft platinum H8 from advance, registered with bmwhat. Save a buck or two.

I bought this Bosch battery through pepboys. It has a 4 year free replacement: http://www.pepboys.com/product/detai...203.0L%2520Dsl
Current promo code PB30FORU will give you 30% off. So that'll bring the price down from $220 to $160. Then use bmwhat to register it. BMWhat charges an additional $10-$15 to add the ability to register the battery. |

I replaced mine 2 weeks ago, it was H8 from batteries pus store, then registered it with BMWhat app! The battery was like 130 dollars and it is 100 amp hours and the wifi adapter with the iPhone app was about 70 all together! The whole thing was super easy (considering the store clerk exchanged the battery and I just watched him!)

Exide L5/49X
I picked up the Exide L5/49X at Menards for $106. It's rated at 107 AH. It's a regular lead acid, not AGM.
The coding options in the Carly App are for 90AH or 110Ah. There is no 107. So, any idea whether to code it for 110 or 90 Ah? I tried 110 and I'm still getting weird shadow codes for the instrument cluster, the passenger side junction box, fuel pump, and the clock won't keep the time and date. The car runs and starts perfectly; I'm only having display problems. The clock failure and codes coincided with a recent tune, but at this point I am still trying to rule out battery coding.
