Oil Pressure Light at Idle
Hi
I brought a 2008 318i (143) in the UK last year and it has been great until the last 3 months. I started to get a recurring problem once the engine was warmed up (after 30 minutes driving) when i come to a stop the red oil warning light would come on. If i turned off the engine and restarted the light was gone and would stay off for a day or two until it happened again. I started monitoring this and found that when i can to a stop the revs would drop to aprox 600 momentarily and there would be a slight smell of burning oil. This problem was now happening on every journey even my 35 minute drive to work. I had the oil pressures check and they are all good. I have a fault reader and found the following fault codes: 30C1 Engine-Oil pressure control static 2EF7 MAP thermostat, activation 29F3 Fuel Low-pressure sensor, electric If i cleared the codes and waited for the oil light to come on again i always had 30C1 and 2EF7. So doing some research i found there was a "Hydraulic Valve" or "Oil Pressure Relief valve" "11417584990" mounted in the engine block. I managed to find a replacement on eBay although it was a used part. And i replaced it, all was fine for a week then it happened again. See: http://www.etk.cc/bmw/EN/search/sele...73/11417584990 So i am thinking either the used part was no good or there is something else wrong. Has anyone else had this issue? |
