My experience has been that it'll move a little on bumpy roads, not so much in turns. I haven't yet had any really abrupt maneuvers that have caused dramatic movements in the mount. However, the movements with this mount are likely to be less a problem than if the suction mount disconnects in motion. (I've only had the suction mount detach while the car was parked in the sun.)

Have a look at this thread, too:

I use it frequently, and unless you're really tossing your car around it is going to stay put. And it's not any uglier than the windshield mount, and easy to set down on the floor so people don't smash your window hoping to steal a Garmin....

ok no... that's just super ghetto... don't go and GLUE shit to your dash... are you kidding me?

I have the friction mount and it doesn't move AT ALL... and I drive quite aggressively.

Just use the friction mount as it was designed to... it works very well... and if you decide to take another approach, PLEASE do not GLUE it anywhere... please please please...

I used to use an older Garmin friction mount in my wife's minivan. At first, it would never move -- even during hard cornering. Well, um, minivan hard cornering.

However, as it got older, the bottom surface lost it's tackiness and it started to slide around more. Perhaps I could have sprayed it with something to restore it.
