Oil Leaks...
Hey guys, I have a minor leak from both the Rear Main Seal and Oil Pan that I am dreading fixing. Its not major, just leaves a drop or two whenever the car is parked which is a little embarrassing if anything. Has anyone ever had an issue where these leaks needed to be fixed right away? Thanks.

It may just be the oil pan. Get that fixed first and see if the leak goes away.

This may just be the oil pan. Ordered and waiting on the gasket and bolts, but my mechanic took a look and said that some of the bolts are very loose. Is this normal with the aluminum bolts?

Yes, the bolts loosen up over time. The rear of the pan leaks into the bell housing and makes it look like the rear main is leaking.

Thanks. Would it be possible to tighten the bolts a little to see if that works first? Or do you risk the chance of snapping them?

My oil pan is leaking too. Probably the gasket.
I recently replaced the VCG and OFHG as well. It sucks that all the major gaskets leak on these cars and none of the repairs are really "easy". |

I nursed my car that way for about 100,000 miles. Pretty much just tighten until the bolt stops. Use a 1/4-drive ratchet.
