Blackberry in BMW
I am picking up my e90 on Saturday and I have a Blackberry 7130e opering on Verizon's Network. The phone is not listed under BMW's "approved" phone list, however, I know the phone is very similiar to the blackberry 8700 which is listed. Is there any chance the phone will work? Do any phones that are not on the BMW list still work?

Yes, there is a chance it will work. There are some phones not on the list that do actually work. The chances of it working are higher if you have the CIP 20 software update for the car. If you are just getting the car on Saturday, you should have the update.

They started putting it into cars that were manufactured in mid or late December. Just have the dealer make sure it has all the software updates before you take delivery. It takes a while to have the updates downloaded into the car, so call ahead. It took them two days to update mine when my bluetooth didn't work right.

It should work but may not allow you to upload the directory. Take the phone in with you and the dealer will set it up.
enjoy

I second what RedBird said. My T-Mobile 7100 BlackBerry was not on list, but when I picked my car up last week my dealer hooked it up. But it would not load my phonebook.

Blackberry Phonebook on 7100 series
If you want the address book to transfer you must have 4.1 os for your bb and CIP20 for your car.
Go to www.pinstack.com and review the site for information on how to install 4.1. I believe Verizon has already released it. I have Cingular with a 7100g and had to download the mutlilanguage version from the Hong Kong site. Works like a charm, 100% of the time. Good luck. |
