Dropping base e90 with 16s ?

I have tried to find people that have dropped their cars with stock 16s and maybe I used the wrong keywords but couldn't really find any info.

I have Type 156 (16x7 ET34 205/55 R16) on my '06 325i (literally base) and looking to get some H&R sports at the minimum and wanting to space the wheels outward. Has anyone done this yet? I may upgrade to 19's in the future but for now looking to gain better handling.

I know that 98% of the people here would probably upgrade their wheels and drop at the same time (esp if they have 16s) :-) But any recommendations on whether this sounds okay and what size spacers I would need in order to have the wheels flush?

Also, if anyone has any pictures with this type of setup, that would also be really helpful.

I have a guy that will replace springs, camber adjust and align for 175 so why not take advantage of the situation

you can always get spacers to push the 16" outward. I had 156s and changed them out to 161s and sport springs/shocks. if yo do the springs, make sure you can the shocks (dampers)!

So what size spacers would I need? My plan is to replace both shocks and springs.

sorry, don;t know spacers size you need but imho an lowered car with 55 series tires may look a bit goofy, like an civic lowered on small factory wheels. i would get a least 17" with low profiles. (40-45 series at the minimal)

I wouldnt recommend dropping the car because it will make your wheels look even smaller. Also, you'll have a lot less ground clearance. You could run spacers but it would only push your wheels out and not make them any wider. I would just get my hands on a set of 19's (or at least 18's) and then do the drop.

Someone on the forum lowered his car on 16s and it didnt look half bad at all. But realistically, Id rather have nicer wheels on stock height then a lowered car on 16s. Either way, you can get one or the other done for about the same price.

16" with 205/55/16 looks really small on the e90, and yes, they will look even smaller when lowered.

Okay, I figured there was probably a reason I didn't see too many people here opting for that setup. I will be on a lookout for some 19s and lowering gear then. If I am going to spend money on wheels, they will for sure be 19s. Thanks for the tips.

I would have to agree, that is very low, but thanks for the pic, exactly what I was looking for.
