07 335i - Loss of power + WOT causes half engine light

I had misfires and hesitation for about a year, and recently had an injector and coil pack replaced which fixed that issue, but I didn't have overall loss of power before the fix.

Now I have a noticeable loss in power (down 30-40% I'd say) at all RPMs, and if I push it hard to wide open throttle (or close) I get the half engine warning light.

Any ideas what it could be?

More info: 73k miles, intake hasn't been walnut blasted yet, have also had the HPFP and LPFP changed in the past. I also changed the plugs and one of the coil packs 10k-15k miles ago.

Mine was a bad turbo vacuum cannister that caused those symptoms

How did you troubleshoot that?

Check the vacuum lines that run behind the oil filter cap all of the way to the turbos. They crack with heat cycles and cause the turbos to not spool up.

The check control msgs dont help us at all, if you want to get closer to the problem we need the engine codes

like these: https://cobbtuning.zendesk.com/hc/en...otential-Fixes

^ Will those $30 ODB readers give me those codes, or do I need one of the fancy computers to get at them?

^^ Will do thanks!

If im not mistaken a cheap 30 OBD will only read 'services engine soon' engine lights. BMW's have these things called ghost codes that will make your car go in to limp mode, as your experiencing, but will not trigger a SES light. i use my COBB tuner if you have a buddy with one he can prob check your codes or buy a carly bmw https://www.amazon.com/Original-Carl.../dp/B00X3UYXM0

Could be a broken or disconnected charge pipe?

You need to read the codes and find out what is causing the SES light. Only way to properly diagnose the problem

I'd be willing to bet that it's another coil pack. I've replaced so so many now. Sometimes I would get just intermittent misfires, other times I would get half engine light and way reduced power.

I took the tune off of my car, and have not had to replace a single coil pack in almost a year now.
