Pulstar plugs - hype?

http://www.pulstarplug.com/

Something like $25/each for the N54 engine. DSport magazine has an article that puts them around 5 or 6 HP and TQ on an Evo VS a couple of other brand new plugs - dyno'd at XS Engineering.

Hype or real gain?

Under the "torque" link on their web site, notes a raise in PSI. Is that what we'd want, esp. for a car already having an ECU mod?

"Wow" as in crazy BS?

There are dynos in the mag for other a couple other non-turbo cars, as well. All gains seem proportional to stock HP/TQ, so +5 or +6 with 335i stock power.

Could very well be bogus. But, DSport has a lot of good articles and XS Engineering wouldn't let one-off dynos reach publication, to my knowledge.

Anyone tried these? Shiv, tuners, opinions on why these would or wouldn't matter on our engines, provided the benefits to the cars tested were real?

Thanks.

I ordered them, they dont fit the N54 motor only the n52. The n54 has a proprietary spark plug that is 12mm not 14mm

Chitown: Are you sure you ordered the right set?
The pulstar plugs for the n52 engine is the Pulse Plug Model: DG-1. The model for the n54 engine is the Pulse Plug Model: BE-1.

Oh well... Did more than one person try them and were the results negative power or simply equal to known good plugs? Didn't really think XS Engineering could be bought. Maybe in some weird cases these make more power.

What, specifically, did people who tried them say?

The whole thing does smell of snake oil, except to say that DSport (non-product) articles are sometimes more in-depth than anything found in euro-mags, IMO.

Inconclusive to me. Capacitor in the spark plug, building to release a greater spark? Don't know - anyone want to take one for the group and try them?
