Maintenance Upgrade Program

We are half way through the warranty in the 4 year/50k maintenance program. Thinking about getting the 6 year/100k upgrade. The dealer (Peter Pan BMW, San Mateo, CA) quoted $1592 for my 2006 235ix wagon with 27700 miles on it.

Is this a good deal for the SF bay area?

Thanks!

I'm not quite sure if this price is a good value or competitive to others in the industry, but it is the price to pay for a piece of mind.

If my vehicle is problematic or if I forsee issues in the 5th or 6th year of ownership, this is not a bad idea.

P.S. You should consider calling other dealerships and/or asking other members in the California section:

what kind of "piece of mind" you have on Extended Maintenance ? 4-wheel brake service, 2 oil changes, 1 filter and few windshield wipers? Consider if these will cost more than $1600...

If you actually meant Extended Warranty, then $1600 was dirt cheap. Most third parties offer at least $2500 for 6yr/100kmile.

What I read was not so much the Maintenance Program, but the Warranty coverage.

For the maintenance service alone, I would definitely reconsider

This is really for maintenance - wipers, break pads, oil changes and the like. Scheduled maintenance. The extended warranty you can only get when you are the original owner.

Living in Half Moon Bay Pleasanton is too far to drive. But then all the dealerships in the peninsula get bad ratings.
Thanks for the tips - I'll call the others.
