What items of car order get taxed?
When calculating the state tax on a car purchase, my understanding is that it is based on the total sales price of the vehicle. This includes invoice base plus options, destination and handling, amount over invoice, and additional fees (e.g. doc fee). Is this correct?
Destination and handling and dealer fees are part of the total sales price which are taxed right? |

The total price of the car gets taxes unless you are leasing. If you are leasing then only the portion of the car that you are using gets taxed.

I would verify this with your Department of Revenue, but everything is taxed here in Illinois. When leasing here as well as TX and a few other states, you're taxed on the full amount of the of the vehicle.
